As activities resume after the summer, Cap4Land is entering an important new phase. Several initiatives are moving forward in parallel to support Belgian companies and research organisations developing innovative solutions for the defence, security and resilience sectors.

Here is a quick update on where we stand and what comes next.

The Try-Out Call enters the evaluation phase

The application period for the Try-Out Call 2026 is now closed. The submitted projects are currently being reviewed by the evaluation committee.

Applicants will be informed of the results by the end of September. The selected projects will then move on to the next stage within the Try-Out scheme.

The selection process for Cap Impact continues

In parallel, the selection process for organisations joining the Cap Impact program is also underway.

The program is open to companies, Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs) and academic institutions. Selected participants will benefit from tailored support designed to strengthen their capabilities and help them respond to the specific requirements and opportunities of the defence sector.

The selected organisations will be contacted shortly to prepare for the start of the program.

Building the Land Defence Technology Roadmap: the first workshop is approaching

Another major Cap4Land milestone is taking shape: the development of the Land Defence Technology Roadmap.

To support this process, Cap4Land is organising a series of three workshops bringing together representatives from Defence and the Belgian industrial, technological and research ecosystem.

The objective is to connect Defence’s future operational needs with the capabilities and technological expertise available within the Belgian ecosystem. The three workshops will progressively move from identifying key innovation themes to defining critical systems and, ultimately, the technological barriers that need to be addressed.

The workshops are scheduled for:

  • 6 October 2026
  • 17 November 2026 (TBC)
  • 10 January 2027 (TBC)

The first workshop will therefore mark an important step in this collaborative roadmap-building process and in defining future priorities for land defence innovation.

More to come soon

The coming weeks will bring several important milestones for Cap4Land: the announcement of the Try-Out Call results, the selection of participants for the Cap Impact program, and the first workshop dedicated to the Land Defence Technology Roadmap.

Together, these activities contribute to the same ambition: strengthening connections between Defence needs and Belgian industrial and technological capabilities, and accelerating the development of solutions for tomorrow’s land defence.
